The ‘Dramafleurs’ (Part Two) is one half of an abstract floral diptych by Melbourne artist, Chloé Du Bois. In this duo, Chloé’s typical floral musings lean in to a dramatic palette that works beautifully with the paradoxically bold yet, delicate gestures and textural approach. The drama! What’s not to love about these two, complete in their black and lilac frames?
Each piece stands alone, or can be collected together as a diptych.

‘Camellias II’ is a vibrant musing on the delicate and decadent bloom nestled in deep green. Texture and layers upon layers on colour and nuanced application gives this piece depth and beg you to linger a little longer. ‘Big Sigh’ is a contemporary abstract piece that is soft and bold all at once. Balancing big energy and texture with a gracefulness that is harboured by the softer hues. For Chloé Du Bois, this creative practice (painting) acts, at times, like a ‘big sigh’ in response to the current social climate and call to be present. It’s at the easel, amongst colour and so often in solitude that one finds the space to breathe deeply and appreciate all they are grateful for.

Practice makes present.
How I came to be a painter is not unique. I return to it intermittently, when motherhood and life allow — but this medium, when harnessed, serves my mind and heart in a way little else does.
I paint to return to the present. To muse and meander through thought, and to dance with colour via paintbrush. My practice is fluid and poetic, where intuition and expression meet, often accompanied by an album on loop.
My hope is my art meets you where you’re at, lands on your heart and calls you in to linger a little longer.
Welcome, and thank you for being here.
