Squint, raise your hand to your brow. Isn’t is gorgeous? This view. That’s all there is to see, to be with now.

About the Collection

Whilst these pieces evolved as an exercise in simply moving brush and paint around, the intention as they sit together is that they land like ‘you’ve been there’. That the vistas and momentum in the sweeping layers of paint evoke a spectrum of emotions that belong to transitional times and offer the viewer a solace in knowing, or peace in pastel composition and contemplation.

For this too shall pass. Observe the mind as you do the weather, and you’ll be fine.

It’s true — in every sense of the word (title). So this piece needs little prose. It’s just about a moment, a day, a time, where the obvious lands. Not good or bad, just is. Some days are brighter than others.

Reminiscent of your favourite beach track at sunset… or is it sunrise? Either way, you find your way here and life is a little richer, warmer as you ground your feet moving towards the light.

If not a beach like so, many of us could likely recall an expansive vista and a moment in time that calls for pause, like this one alludes to. How long can/do you take pause for? Can you linger a little longer? Breathe in, 2, 3, 4… Out, 2, 3, 4…

Fancifully daydreaming of the chalk cliffs of Dover — a place I’ve never been — this piece draws on imagined reference to gently express the intensity of heightened states and the unfathomable depths of emotion experienced throughout my postpartum journey.
Simple, expressive gestures and a soft pastel palette temper this weight… but then, how else do we survive? Perhaps just like that — until we find a little space high above the depths to articulate and free ourselves from it.
